New North West housebuilder, Kellen Homes has been granted planning permission for its first development, on the former site of the Vernon Works mill in Royton, Oldham, Greater Manchester.

Founded in 2020, Kellen homes is creating homes for everyone. The business is focussed on providing mixed tenure communities utilising sustainable build methods.

The 2.26-hectare site in Oldham, now named Vernon Gardens, will bring forward 99 two, three and four-bedroom homes, including 49 affordable homes and 50 for open-market-sale.

Kellen Homes has been working alongside Great Places Housing Group to establish this high-quality scheme. Construction will commence imminently, with the show homes opening in Spring 2022. The first new homes will be released for sale in January 2022 with the first homeowners expected to move into their new homes in Summer 2022.

Helen Spencer, director of development at Great Places Housing Group, said: “We’re delighted to be working alongside Kellen Homes at Vernon Gardens which we hope is the first of many projects we’ll deliver in partnership across the North West to provide communities with much needed affordable homes. Bringing brownfield sites back into use by building mixed tenure communities is a shared ambition of both organisations and the backbone of our successful partnership. Vernon Gardens is the latest in a string of projects for Great Places within Oldham, where we continue to experience high demand and need for our homes.”
